Corporate Office Space, Charleston SC

We were approached by one of the largest Architecture firms in the Southeast for our recommendation for a new Corporate Office for a large national real estate firm.

4 River Select Office

The owners had purchased an entire floor of a 100-year-old office building in Downtown Charleston.  There were several criteria that we needed to meet in order to make this project successful:

  1. The floor needed to be Antique Heart Pine.  It was, after all, Charleston.
  2. The owners wanted the floor to look as if it had been there since the building opened.
  3. There could be as little sound transmission to the floor below as possible.

We worked closely with the Interior Design team at LS3P Architects and Carol Goodwin of Goodwin Heart Pine to keep all of the 3 key criteria in mind when presenting samples and proposals for the flooring.    The custom look started with a mix of Vertical and Wide Plank River-Recovered® Antique Heart Pine, we added custom distressing and prefinished it with just enough color to jump start the aging process.

The flooring was installed over the existing 100-year-old concrete using the Sika Accoubond sound attenuation system.  Normally, we would recommend a Goodwin Precision Engineered floor when gluing Antique Heart Pine over concrete, but in this case, the inconsistencies inherent with gluing down solid flooring (minor height differences and perhaps some small gaps between boards) contributed greatly to the authentic look and feel of the floor.
